I'd be a bit reserved on sending this in for tpging as it may come back in a body bag. The toning is so deep it may be considered environmental damage. I'd like to hear from some of the more experienced members but I'd be concerned about the likelihood of an upgradable response. If it comes back gradable, I see MS61 due to the uneven toning.

I believe that I see a slight amount of rub on the breast and knee of liberty. Could just be the photos.

From your response, I'd assume it was graded as MS63, but with Joe it looks like a bit of rub of the breast.

I will guess AU-55 but it could be an AU-58. I am a little unsure how much luster there is vs friction but whatever luster I can make out seems to be around the stars and lettering. For me, toning makes a coin more challenging to grade in hand and online. Nice coin btw!

I don't think I see any wear. I like the originality of the toning, and assuming the obverse luster is on par with the reverse, I go MS63.

But I'm a total amateur on grading this series!

i don't know why I insist on calling ANACS holders NGC

old small and white holder here
i believe they under graded this coin to get some respect on the block
i don't like what I suspect to be bag wear being graded as circulation wear and with the remaining luster and mottled madness on this coin it should sit in an MS holder

off to PCGS and a plead of my case

Those little silver coins are sure hard to grade and with molted toning even harder! Need these in hand with a good lamp and my 7x Triplet loupe. I can see the darker spots could be wear just a touch of rub, but the reverse looks MS. I'm betting that PCGS would cross it over at AU - I might have cracked this one out and tried for a MS grade raw.

I'd have cracked and given it a very light dip to freshen it up some (that toning is too close to ED for my liking) then sent it in raw. I'll bet they would cross it at 55.
