Update: mint.ca has corrected the tax charged to BC residents. It is back to 7%, the amount of the PST.Worst case scenario for BC residents. Not only are we charged PST (7%), we ae are also charged GST (5%), bringing the total tax for Fine Silver Coins to 12%. For example, the Iris coin used to be tax free at 119.99. Now it is extra $14.40, for a total of $134.40. For the polar bear coin, tax free at $89.99, now an extra $10.80 for total of $100.78. For the butterfly coin, we have to pay an extra $18.00! The only good news is there is not tax of any kind on the $20 for $20 coins. Edited by MoneyPenney 04/01/2013 2:39 pm

Yes, I am happy since I know TAX in BC is like seesaw, one side down the other side must up. Plus you can not complain much when you enjoy the warmer and nicer spring (compared with east).

what you in BC saved on pst on everyday items like gas hydro everything has to be better than 7% on a few coins. Wish ontario would do the same as BC.

I don't wish Ontario did this, HST is good for business. And good for me :)

That is a very sighted view considering that the economy will suffer with the HST gone. Without it, the manufacturing sector will lose the ability to claim the HST inputs. Every economist agree that the HST is a more efficient tax. And is difficult for economists to agree on anything. The campaign to get rid of the HST was based on lies. Especially, by the NDP. The tax would have cost the average resident $300 a year, which is less than a dollar a day. Without the revenue raised by HST, the government will either have to create a bigger deficit, raise other taxes, or cut services. Who do you think will pay for getting rid of the HST? it is people like you who think saving a few pennies on gas and hydro is a great idea.
