I see all these posts with people putting pictures of their nice looking Lincoln sets on here, and it kind of motivated me to share mine. I scanned the pages using my somewhat older scanner (spending all my money on coins doesn't leave me much money to upgrade my equipment) so sorry in advance if the details don't stand out sharply. It's BU from now back to 1929, and then about 30% of the coins from 1909 to 1928-S are BU. I'm working on upgrading all the 1921 to 1928-S coins to BU and the 1909 to 1920-S to at least VG or better. I do not have a 1922 no "D" since I do not consider it a legitimate coin for a set of circulation coinage. That's a blank planchet in that spot. I have good pics of each coin individually for my official inventory.

Right on! I saw you mentioned it in another thread and I was curious to see some of those earlier thirties and late 20s in BU. How sharply are the prices rising for you to go earlier with them?

Well, overall the cost for the 1920s BU seems to be going up about $50-$70 more per coin than I spent on the 1930s BU cents (not including 1931-S of course). A couple of the 1920s are higher than that but nothing like the S-VDB. One of the reasons I will be happy with VG or better for the 1909 through 1920-S coins. I like all the coins on one page to look similar so I have to go back to 1921. Maybe I should have stopped the BU at 1935. Actually my ultimate goal (despite the insanely prohibitive cost) is to upgrade all of them to BU. I still have the rest of my life to get it done, so we'll see how that goes. There was a time I thought I'd never own an S-VDB but I do now! I'm just being patient and waiting for the good deals to spring up. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Loan? I'll sell you one for $5.00. Wait...you do mean just a regular 09 right? Because that 09 S-VDB is never leaving this house.

I wonder how many people who have completed this album actually keep their 09 S-VDB in it (as opposed to having it slabbed and stored separately). I struggled with this, but in the end decided to keep it in the album so as to not have an unsightly hole.

When I get mine, it will go in the album, without hesitation or regret.

VERY impressed by the quality of the coins you have from the 20's and 30's. That is not an easy (or cheap) accomplishment! I'm also insanely jealous of your 1909S VDB... I just can't pull the trigger on one at a decent price.

I don't like the idea of slabbing my coins. I like having a more hands-on experience with them (though the hands have gloves on). The 1909-S VDB was the last one I got. I got my tax return and went to the coin store to get some Silver Eagles, but saw that little guy in the display case. It was new to the store and the dealer only had it for one afternoon. Best chance I ever had to fill that hole and complete the collection. I took it. I definitely know the feeling about pulling the trigger to get that last coin, but I have no regrets. Here's a better pic of it, and a few of the other key dates and important varieties. The 22-D and 24-D were pulled from coin rolls. The rest in these pics were purchased from coin store or coin show. The 14-D needs some upgrading, but I'm working on it.
