Estimated to be 2 million plus, but I think it will sell for 1.75 million. I placed a bid of $50 but it didnt go through It will be fun to watch it sell, I plan on logging in to their live auction to watch this and the other Treasury Note to see what they end up selling for. Anybody here bidding on it?

I respect the rarity and beauty of the note. However, that just feels like too much money to spend on one note, no matter what it is.

I'll leave the bidding on the incredible large size notes at heritage's CSNS to you high rollers. Personally I'm still gawking speechless at all the low serial beauties in the small size section. Trying to spend below $2500 to use my credit card, and that ain't gonna be easy.
I wonder who are the people that are spending 100K to 1mil. bidding on those notes on Heritage? you think its dealers or hardcore collectors?

Hi, Yes you have right but on the other side, there is a unique. There were many, and this is the last of them. He says more to me than a Picture from Warhol or Picasso. We all sell lifetime for money, for our homes, cars, education, and our pension. We are always on the hunt for money. What did People 100 Years ago for $1000? This also makes this Bill so interesting. The combination of history, rarity and aesthetics. If you have the money why not? I did not have the Money for this Bill, and so I will continue to hunt the beautiful Bills which are not so rare but perhaps so nice. I think that is an object of speculation. We had to learn that there is no safe system for our Money even more. So why not invest in Rare bills? I think the buyer will not be a collector like us.

hajduk,
Honestly if I had the 2million to bid on that 1891 $1000 note, I'd much rather spend it on a few hundred affordable large size notes to instantly compile an impressive large size note collection overnight. I'm happy though that whoever wins that beautiful $1000 will continue preserving it as there are only 2 examples known.
Fun fact: $1000 in 1891 is equal to $25,500 in 2012 dollars!

Hi Woodford, I think that would be the better way, we think similarly. I would probably make it even so. It would not surprise me if the bill goes to Russia or China. Hopefully not! That should stay in The States. Regards
