I voted other. I purchase silver and gold because I enjoy collecting them.

As far as speculating, trading, I would not be buying physical silver or gold. That I do via futures contracts, options, ETFS, ETNs

I selected "other" because I buy silver to collect. I usually buy silver coins that were circulating coins. I have recently been buying ASE and Maples but once again for collecting reasons.

Other , I buy for a few reasons, I like to collect the coins and to have the security of PMs on hand just in case.

Mostly to collect.

A little bit for diversification of assets and a little just in case but collecting first

Indian - Financial insurance how? Because you will use it to acquire dollars to spend or because you believe you will be able to use it as a currency. How do you plan to cash this insurance policy?

Other, collecting. That's why I don't mind buying and seeing the price drop $5 an oz.

Other. I enjoy collecting. But, the added security of having a stack of silver to sell if needed is a big plus. I have put aside all my copper and clad sets to focus on silver right now. When it goes back up I'll switch back to my other sets.

Same here, the only silver I sell is 40% & 90% Kennedy's I get from the bank at face. I then use that money to buy either ASE's, Panda's, Lunar's or classic U.S. coins.

Silver and gold are hedges against inflation. Even though the government won't admit that we have any right now, the time is coming when it will be very apparent that we do. If the dollar's buying power collapses when it is no longer the World's Reserve currency, silver can be swapped for a new type of currency or bartered for any items needed. Silver and Gold are real money with a 5000 year track record.

I buy silver because a lot of silver is beautiful, and I like collecting things with a high value as a backup. I'll never sell unless the absolute worst happens, but it's nice to be assured that you own a valuable asset.

To me, it's like buying an expensive car - the market value could rise but you're going to have fun driving it around. I really enjoy collecting.

That time is coming sooner then we think, you can only bail out a failing system so long before it implodes in on itself.
My only question is Bars or Coins? Or maybe both, you can cut off as much as you need from a bar but I would hate to have to cut up a 1 ounce coin.

Well, it is better than letting fiat sit in a bank that pays nothing to use your money.
