my world type set sits at 239 countries / 2500+ unique coins. I am toying with the idea of selling in order to afford to focus on a narrower field (canadian coins, most victorian bank tokens).
the collection has aproximately 100 silver coins, another 100 or so with a book value of $10-$50, several hundred with BV of $5 each. left over 2000 are less than $5.
i'de like opinions on if I should keep it altogether and sell as one big lot, seperate the money coins from the commons, or perhaps even sell by country?
pro and cons? thoughts? suggestions?

Group them together by country into lots of about $100 each, and try ebay for a few lots to see how you go. Because the coins are in the lower price ranges ($10 - $50 as you say), I would think that an intending bidder would see very little risk with fake coins in this price range. It would be an easy way to build up a good reputation on the 'Bay. Also, what are some of the coins that you have? You certainly have enough posts to show a few here on the CCF. I am sure that some of us could be interested.

You have a 1982 5 fen, I'm no expert but I've heard that 1982 1-5 fen might be worth something, at least there was a post somewhere on here I think or maybe the other forum I go on, where there was a discussion about them, and as time goes by and China gets richer, chinese coins are going to be worth more and more.

the 5 fen, like most aluminum coins, aren't worth much unless MS65+

MS65 would be very nice for almost any aluminum coin but that's extremely hard to find.
I wonder what premium one would have to pay over MS63.

Hi, Did you sell a French coin marked 'Essai' in your large lot sale on ebay? A 1944 50 centimes piece? Would be too bad if you did, essai coins are valuable and worth listing individually. -SCS

If you decide to sell the collection seperately, there are a few that I would be interested as a fellow world coin collector. If it were me, I would sell the silver seperately as it holds a higher premium or keep the silver until the price goes back up. The lower/common stuff would sell quickly on the bay. Of course, all of this is up to you. Thanks for sharing.

the common stuff (nothing over $10 per coin), aproximately 1500 coins - in groups by country or region, are up on the 'bay right now.
once they are gone I will start listing the older and/or more valueable ones as singles or small lots.
SCS, if I did miss an essai... then someone found some treasure!

How might we see your current 'bay listings? I ask about the 'essai' only because the listing you linked up above on 'en.numista.com' showed there being one in your coll, that notation might have gotten on there in error, however! But treasure it would be, indeed!
Cheers, SCS

I think you would get higher prices if you showed both sides of coins, especially in the mixed lots.
It's not unknown for eBayers to show just the nice side and hope that someone bids without asking to see the other side.
I'd be interested in your lots but not without seeing both sides and I couldn't be bothered to ask each time.

Why do you use the term 'unique coins' ?
They're mass produced, not unique at all.

They're mass produced, not unique at all. I think we all know what he meant. 2500+ coin types. The smaller the lot, the more money you will probably make in the end, but the more work you'll have to put in. You just have to find the balance that works for you. Definitely separate by country. In some cases, you might have to put them in groups to just sell them at all. People may not be willing to pay shipping on a coin worth 2 bucks. The only lots that might bring more value over selling alone are type sets.

"unique" as in no coin in the lot is a duplicate.
i could show both sides of the coins, and I would if it were a $10+ single coin. but at 25 cents and considering the extra time, and expense to list another 100 or so scans it just wasn't going to happen.
NONE are xf on one side and VG8 on the other, trust me I wouldn't bother to even card them if they were. these aren't just random left overs or crap I am hoping to get a bid on - its decent stuff, upgraded many times, I've just decided to focus on a narrower field.
