Hi all,

New to the forums.

A little about what I'm doing in the introduction section here:

https://goccf.com/t/146734

Long story short, inherited a coin collection from my late Grandmother, and I have a lot of coin I know nothing about.

So, daily I'm going to post a picture of a coin and try to better understand why my Grandmother kept it, and perhaps some history behind it.

Today, I bring you a 1985 D Mint penny.

1985-D-Penny:-Info?

Wow! Poor picture quality. From a cell phone....any tips for taking better shots with a cell phone? (lol)

Any who, any input on this coin...history, why my Grandmother kept it, etc....would be awesome!

Thanks,
-I3

maybe try backing away from the coin to get it in focus, then crop the image down to the coin.

Can't tell from the picture, but did that year mean something significant?

Maybe, that's all I can figure. From my research I don't see this coin holding much significance, however I could be wrong.

I'll find out. I wanted this to be my first bit of research, as I don't understand why she would have held onto this penny.

I'll search around with the family.

could be special year for something, part of the change received when bought something special, cent found on the ground at special place or time, the possibilities are endless. They aren't special to anyone else, but I like to collect Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollars (my avatar) when they turn up. I have 5 of various qualities, with a bid on another.
