They have been made by the millions over the years, but always retaining the 1780 date. I know little about these, but I'm sure somebody will be along to tell you much more. I do know that there are little subtle differences in the design that can give an indication of what time period it was produced. Then we can perhaps identify the mint and period of striking. From what I can see your coin looks like it is a 20th century restrike, the coin is still genuine but has been struck long after the date it bears. It contains 3/4 troy oz of pure silver and is worth the bullion value Report this Post to the Staff
