Well trout, if it was mine I would grade it a a Good VF, but I am sure others in the forum will disagree and grade it F, others may grade it EF., but hey, that just my opinion and I love the coin.

Jim it is F/GF
I suggest you buy the standard guide of grading British coins. If you blindly buy at your perceived grades there will be tears when you want to sell.It is a problem free collectable coin. The obverse proves it has seen a lot of circulation.
I'm trying to help you not to make costly errors.

Peter, I actually made a typo in my grading, I had intended to put a Good Fine grade, not a good VF,
With ref to you comments regarding my perceived grades, and the tears when I want to sell them, I have been collecting for approx 35years or more now, and my grades are totally irrelevant as I have absolutely no intention of selling any of my graded coins, I collect as a hobby, I only sell old duplicate coins which are normally low grade or scrap which have been bought as bulk lots and sorted.
However MOST of my coin collection Post 1950s are of PROOF or BUNC standard, of which there can be no abiguity, earlier coins pre 1950 are mostly simple bits of metal with a date to fill collections where the grade is irrelevant, the grade of some may creep into VF but mostly lower, I collect coins within my means, and with the odd exception on here, they are for my viewing pleasure.

Jim
I started with my first coin album at 4 years old....so that makes me a collector of 48 years.I think my attention was to relieve family etc of their Victorian copper.
