On page 223 in the 2008 Red Book, shows the Presidential coins but also in the list 'silver'. According to the book these coins will be minting PDSS. Anyone have an idea when the silver version be available?

Not ever.

The mint doesn't have authority to do so without legislation; no such legislation is on the horizon.

The Red Book editors were playing with fire by providing a price for a coin that didn't exist at press time and likely never will.

You still want to use it as a price guide?

This is the reason I'm waiting on buying a Presidential dollar Dansco album. I want to be sure there will be no silver dollar minted.

I agree with you Gary. And, too, there aren't enough issued so far to warrant the cost of an album.

Would any of you buy silver Presidential dollars if they were released?

Not I.

But I am into getting stuff at face value right now.

I certainly would buy. I would buy at least one for whatever album (probably Dansco) that I buy, and perhaps one for each grandkid.
