There is a person on another forum site selling 40% silver quarters. I've heard of 40% silver half dollar but never 40% quarters.

Is this a true or a typo? If true, what years were 40% quarters minted in the U.S.?

the only ones I know of are in 1776-1976 Silver 3-coin commemorative sets. Quarter, Half, and Dollar were 40% IIRC

I think that bicentennial one is the only 40% for USA quarters, but they do exist

During 1965 through 1970 the halves were 40% silver. I believe the 1976 proof halves were 40% as well. I have never purchased them but have found them in roll hunting as well as those kept from back then.

Only if you can get them a bit below spot. Those will be even harder to move than 40% halves.

All business strike 1976-S U.S. quarters are 40% silver. 11 million were minted but millions have likely been melted by now.

1976-S proofs were minted in both regular clad and 40% silver. 4 million 40% silver proof quarters were minted.

Of the 15 million 1976-S quarters struck in 40% silver, it's safe to assume that millions have been melted and millions still survive.
