I can't believe that ebay allows blatant foolishness like this to be posted on their site. I used to like ebay and relied on the site to get good deals on things. Somewhere the 'professional' ebay seller and the con artists have taken over. There are very few good deals on ebay these days and a lot of scams.

I would be willing to bet a 1909 s vdb that he already looked. look at how ripped that wrapper is. either that or its his first fake old roll scam and he ripped the only paper he could make look like old coin roll wrapping.

For every idiot seller there are 10 idiot collectors who buy them. That is the most shocking thing.

Again, buying the rolls based only on the ends is fine. I have doen it before and got exactly what I saw. And there were some decent but common date wheat's in the middle. You bid on the value of the 09 VDB alone and no biggy. I realize there is no pic of the obv, so you bid accordingly. Bama, I would have to vehemently disagree with you there. Yes, there are scams on ebay as there are EVERYWHERE. But that certainly does not mean there are only a few good deals there. Everyone wants to come on here and post about this stupid auction or that stupid auction, but how many of you come on here and say this guy is great! Or check out this auction, you might want to jump on it? All you look for is negative, that is all you are going to see. But I will say that is the first time I have seen someone show a clearly opened roll and call it unsearched. that's just funny to me. LOL

I sent the seller a message as follows: "Hello, I see you opened this roll and found a VDB reverse cent, so it's obviously a 1909. Can you not simply flip that coin over to see if it is a 1909-S? The way you have your auction listed may appear deceptive to buyers." I do not expect a reply. I am just doing it because I can.

The seller did reply. His response was simple. "Temptation is heck."

Yeah, I would have had more respect for him if he had straight up said "I'm doing it completely on purpose to prey on uninformed and impulsive people with disposable income and no check on reality." I mean, he basically said that in his response, but in fewer words.
