Assuming you are talking 5oz. Good deal very low mintages. Under $200 each is a good deal. Under what the mint is selling the new 2013 issues for.

Depends. Good if they are the uncirculated P-minted pucks, bad if they are only the raw bullion ones which have no mint mark.

Oh crap, there are two versions of each? Tell me I just didn't buy 10 ounces of pute bullion for $100 over spot.

Are the bullion finish versions limited to a certain mintage? Do they appreciate? What I bought was the bullion finish.

They all have the two versions. The P are always the mint ones and the unmarked the bullion

Only the Hawaii one carries a significant premium last I checked. Unfortunately no they dont seem to appreciate.

From what I see, the mintage for the bullion is pretty low too, i'll keep 'em.

The 2012 bullion and probably moving forward did get much lower mintages. If youre unhappy with them Id return them if possible and wouldnt blame you if you stayed away after that. But if you like them you now know what to look for in the future.

Provident metals usually has the bullion ones for a good price if youre more interested in those with the large premiums the mint will be tacking on the P versions from now on.

Seriously ? You are talking about coins with mintages of 24,000 and 24,400. Third and fourth lowest mintages of the whole series
So you paid $39.50 per ounce, 1996 ASE's go for $40-$60 because they have a low series mintage of 3,603,386.

The bullion issues are still every bit as beautiful as the UNC, to me.

APMEX has the two for a tad over $343 (CC price) plus shipping....so you didn't get a screaming deal but it isn't horrible....just not great

Yea but its not mintage its demand that drives premiums.

If theres a 1000 of one thing but 100 collectors and another thing has 50 million but 100 million collectors which one do you think will be harder to find?

Im not saying that mintages dont matter at all, but they dont tell the whole story

There is enough demand that the OP got a decent deal, but not an awesome deal as Faoxwoods said. It is within the acceptable range IMO.

As for ending your foray into these coins, I would say hold on there dude. You paid an OK price. You will likely get a return on your moeny in several years. If that was your ONLY reason for buying them, then you surely could have done better. But then, if investment is your only consideration, I would suggest true bullion, rounds and bars, and not collectible coins like the pucks or ASEs.

If your aim is to collect, but simply not lose your rear in the process, then your purchase was just fine, and no reason not to continue collecting these awesome coins.

Like everyone else says, it's not a terrible buy, as the 2012 issues of the bullion ATB are quite scarce, but the key here is doing a bit of research and shopping around on the web before sinking some hard-earned dough on a transaction. At least you are way ahead than most buyers, that you are willing to ask questions and solicit opinions of your fellow collectors in a public forum. I would definitely keep an eye on the ATB bullion pages of APMEX and Provident Metals to see if/when any future releases occur, they will be just as limited as the 2012 coins.

I misread and assumed that the bullion finish coins were essentialy unlimited mintage, at 24k mintage sold out, I am just fine with what I paid, as a 10oz bar costs $350 can. locally. I will ask for those collecting the series, what is the difference in finish between the two versions?
