I'm no expert, so this is just what I believe after several discussions with professional graders...

I don't know if there's any 'template' for a cleaned coin. Some have been cleaned and wear has erased most traces. In other cases, chemicals may have been used that clean surfaces and induce toning. IMHO, the only way to know for sure is to have a professional examine the coin an look specifically for cleaning. Even in cases where some wear can't be specifically ruled-out as cleaning evidence, they might err on the side of caution and say the results are inconclusive (e.g., it could have been cleaned).

You would do well using the seach function to see pics. There are so many different ways people try to "enhance" coins that no few pics will help. After you handle or look at several thousand coins you should be able to start to tell.

I got two. One polished resulting in an artificial tone, color and gloss.

The second was harshly cleaned.
