I recently purchased these two coins from someone I consider very reputable. He's been a collector since the late 50's and submitted these two coins through a dealer back in the early 1990s. The strange thing is that one coin shows up in the PCGS cert database and the other does not. I emailed PCGS to see if they can verify and I've not heard back. 9198079 and 9198080 Anyone else ever have this issue? The one that isn't coming up is 9198079 Edited by Tbone 04/08/2013 1:48 pm

I know I shouldn't ass-u-me anything but with sequential numbers I would assume that if one of them is verified that the fact the other one doesn't show is probably a glitch on their part. Those are some sweet Half Dimes. Are you working on a variety set or the whole series?

@ jeffrose, that's kind of what I'm thinking regarding the sequence of numbers. Hopefully someone at PCGS will help. Really the only reason I'd like it to checkout is because it can't be accepted in my registry set unless it matches. I'm kind of in limbo as to what I'm doing with these, lol. I started out putting together a type set and found that I really like the seated liberty series (mostly Half Dimes and dimes) and got a bit side tracked. So to answer your question they're part of me getting started on a Seated Liberty half dime set. @ macmercury, thanks, I like them too.

My guess would be worse case they may have you send it back in for them to check to make sure, then when they see its their mistake will send it back free after adding it

i have heard of this. the last time it happened I was told that the number was taken out of the system because some were showing up counterfeited with that cert number yours is probably real and they made other coins with that cert number when this happens pcgs will re certify it for free.

Indeed ... lovely coins you are showing here.
This will get sorted out with some communication to PCGS ... best method I found is the link to 'report a missing cert'.
At the end of the day your photographs will do it ... No worries I say.

@ nickelsearcher
Would you happen to have a link to the "report a missing cert"? I'm not finding anything like that.
Thanks

Anytime you look up a coin it always has the following disclaimer at the bottom Quote: Data entry errors occasionally may occur causing the information on the coin holder to differ from the PCGS database. If the information listed above appears to be incorrect, please contact customer service at 800-447-8848 or email us at info@pcgs.com. I assume the same contact information would be valid for a missing one as well
