Theres an image there. This coin appears worn but judging by the coins lettering I think it may have been struck this poorly. Tiny flan, terrible workmanship..that should be a nice enough clue.

Okay, looks like we need a clue. This guy hated the amount of germans he had in his army and he did something about it.

Hmmm ..... Caligula 'liked' having krauts for his personal guard ..... No less than Theo I even brought in Huns. Some fellow of principled ideas. Well that eliminates just about everybody doesn't it ? Someone who marched to a different drummer perhaps ...... Julian II

Heres another clue...As rome began to crumble, coinage began to suffer. Low quality, shoddy workmanship and tiny flans prevailed. We're pretty far into this 'dark age' for Roman coinage - nearly at the bottom of the pit.

The only other emperor I can think of is Leo I.

So what did he do with all his 'undesirable' German legions ? He sent them to N Africa to get wiped out by the Vandals. Were the Armenian replacements any better ?
