It always amazes me how much a person can abuse a coin, but this one just makes me wince. It looks like every single problem that a coin can have has been done to this quarter eagle. Even with it being ex jewelry, I can't imagine how a coin of this value got this damaged.

I'm ever amazed at what people will do to coins. There was some elderly gentle man that took some coins into a pawn shop and tried to sell them after they were buffed and polished. He said he thought they looked really nice. The pawn store owner went to great lengths to explain but later the guy said to the camera that he thought the store owner was just trying to low ball him.

I will admit to coin mutulation. Back in my foolish youth, I used to place pennies on the rail road tracks near my house. I'm not proud of my deeds, but at least I didn't try to sell my 'train pennies' to someone else!
