Back in 2007, my wife and I heard about this craze and got a box of these at our local bank. We found 43 in all. I decided to crack open 1 of 3 N.F. String & Son, Inc. rolls left and this is what I found swcoin.ecrater.com

Quote: Slabbed by who and at what grade? NGC ....... MS 66 . I think the market fell out of these when they caught that guard at the Phila. mint smuggling over 32,000 of these " no edge marked " coins out of the mint before they could be edged and selling them to a Calif. coin dealer. It clouds the distinction of these coins between true mint error coins and theft coins.

I didn't think they had fallen that far but I did think they were about down to a price about equal to the cost to have them slabbed (Fee + shipping/insurance).

Thanks guys :) Yeah denco, I just put one on ebay last week, 99 cent start just to see where it goes, and sold for $15. When I first found these, Fred Weinberg offered me $40 each. I should have sold them then.

I suppose you could always drive over to the Philly mint and ask if they will run yours through the machine? Make it right and all... :)
