Just wondering if anyone else here has bought coins via online auction at QLD based Lloyds Auctioneers? If so, I'm very keen to hear of your experiences.

Whether or not you want to hear my rant, here it is ... but if you really don't want to know about it - STOP READING NOW!

In the mail today I received my two purchases of three Aus pennies each. As the minimally described and mysterious pennies were not openly depicted or described, and were offered as very small lots of only three coins each, I had hoped they were unknowingly desirable and took a punt.

By the by, what really annoyed me was that I stupidly placed a higher than reasonable bid on one set of three coins instead of placing the bid on a different item that deserved the price.

BUT BEYOND THAT STUPIDITY, before bidding I had checked that won items could be mailed ... and while there were NO postage amounts openly available, I assumed that postage within QLD for six coins wouldn't really be too much. (Dumb, eh?)

In the end I won two lots of three, six pennies in total, for $11 () and then had to pay 15 BUCKS for postage (plus $ buyer's premium plus $ credit card fee ...)

For $15 postage I thought the six coins would be wrapped in gold. Nyet! I picked them up today to find my bucks bought an oversized padded envelope containing two small ziplock bags with three loose coins in each! There's $15 for postage and packaging well spent! Not!

Pennies purchased turned out to be: 1916, 1919, 1934 and 1943, 1950, 1952.

But despite my whingeing I have to admit the 1919 penny is absolutely, lustrously, GORGEOUS.

Fair criticism.! Regardless of price one would expect the packaging and postage to be both reasonable and professional.!
They are doing themselves no favours as shown by your post. Thanks for sharing.!
