A new upgrade arrival!

What grade would you all give the new one? (Of course, you can grade the old one too if you want!!)

Thanks for looking!

Looks to be very weakly struck. Not very knowledgable in this series but I'll guess VF-35.

I'm guessing XF45, the reverse looks AU. Very nice upgrade on this one!

Grade for the old one: worn.
Grade for the new one: A lot less worn.

I wonder if it's been lacquered? It seems to react to the lighting with more luster than I'd expect from an XF coin.

I'd go XF40, but it is hard to tell strike from wear.

The obverse looks original, at least in this picture, but the reverse does reflect light in a way that suggests cleaning. However, that could be the photography, not the coin.

This is a date that is much harder to find in nice grades than the price guides would indicate. Good find!

Me too - I'm with Liz at EF40 the cleaning telltale signs I see, are the carbon spots look like they were removed then the toning came back after those ares were de-spotted and wiped. Not at all very detrimental to the coin IMO. Looks like a nice piece overall and still has nice eye appeal. One question does the coin have any smokey odor? Like cigar? It has that tobacco smoke blown toning look (an old coin doctor trick, not used much due to the smell).
