Team, Here is one from an antique shop run I made today. The score included a 1955 Franklin in 62/63 condition, a 1972-S Proof Silver Dollar, a 1967 Canadian Proof Like Set w/Papers, a 1975 Postal First Day Cover w/Paul Revere Medal, this nice 1883 IHC, and a cigar box to carry it all in. Ben, just to let you know for grading, the 67 Canadian set in the pliofilm would be Proof-Like and not proof.

Pretty cool. I wouldn't think to look in an antique shop for coins. Do you do this often? Pretty good value because antique dealers are not numismatically inclined? I just realized I don't think I have a single cigar box in the house. When I was a kid I used to collect them. The wooden ones were neat. TS

There are a couple of shops I visit periodically, every six months or so and one which will call me when anything interesting comes in. Besides getting first shot at coins, I give them an idea of what some of their (coinage) is worth. An easy tradeoff and everyone benefits. :)

Cigar boxes and coins....don't know if there's a natural connection, but I keep several boxes around to hold various things. One for loose change, which goes to the bank when it fills up. Another for the coin "collection", and a third one to store coin related stuff - receipts, old flips, cracked slabs (nice trophies), etc. I used to do a lot of woodworking and admired the quality of the Macanudo Vintage Cabinet solid Spanish cedar boxes. Cigar stores used to sell empties for $5 back in the Limbaugh/Schwarzenegger heyday, and I picked them up whenever I saw them. Sometimes I took the last couple of cigars to get a big one.
Cigar box art is a whole separate subject - the Paid in Full and Red Cloud labels are more attractive than any coin I've ever seen....
