Im in the process of selling off some of my type set coins for less common date ones for things I really like.

Anyway I have this Trade dollar and I'm trying to figure out how to describe it for the ebay listing and honestly have no clue what was done to it. It says "Edge Repaired - XF Details" and it does look like a part of the obverse rim was smoothed, but other than that everything else looks original.

I'm sure you know what most unscrupulous sellers on ebay would do: crack it out and call it problem free.

What should you do?

List it as PCGS EF details in the header to get it to come up in the searches, explain that you see no damage, give close up photos, and sell it to someone who hopefully will not crack it out and put it back up on ebay as problem free the next week.

Its gonna be listed in the pcgs slab at a discount from its grade, but dont feel it warrants the huge discount most of the details coins get. Its really not something that jumps out at you in hand. I honestly wouldnt be surprised to see someone crack this one and relist it problem free given its look but hopefully not

Is there anything unusual going on with the reeding including the part covered by the three prongs holding the coin?

There wasnt anything that stood out to me in the parts that are covered. Theres that bottom area where it is thinner but even there the surface touching looks all natural and like the rest of the coin. The edges where youd hold it looked fine to me when I sent it in. Whatever was done I would guess it was done a long time ago
