The doubling is only on the p and l of Pluribus. The light was too harsh for good pictures, however, I'm trying again by posting more pictures. The doubling is raised, and what looks like shelf or Machine Doubling is simply reflection, as even under my stereo microscope there is NO other doubling. That can plainly be seen in the picture with very low light. Please let me know what you think.

I don't know why you re-posted this coin, if you wanted to add more photos you should have done it in your previous posting. Concerning the coin;I think it is most likely not a true double die but might be worth a trip to coppercoins for an in hand evaluation. http://www.coppercoins.com/attribution.php

Coppercoins only deal with the Lincoln Cent. Seems like if only the area of only two devices are affected, it might be die damage if the area in question is raised. I would save your coin and mark it so you can find it again. The images are still inconclusive to me yet. What I would like to see is images of the area in question rotated horizontally and an separate image of a normal coin showing the same shot. It is hard to tell if the area in question is raised or incuse. Raised would be a die issue. Also the side by side would show if the devices are the same height. Kind of like this: Please include surrounding devices and if you can't edit, post the raw photos or email them to me and I can check them out. Thanks. Coop

Are the letters in question incuse? (Not raised) If so it may just be die movement.

Thanks very much fo checking out the new photos. Dr. Don, I could not figure out how to post new photos in the original listing - it may be simple, but I did not see it. And coop, I have taken new pictures, and am trying to do exactly as you suggested. And the doubling inside the P and L is raised. Hopefully I can send more pictures tomorrow.

Have you tried the edit button,it looks like a sheet of paper with a pencil across it. Another option is the "Reply to Topic" link,it's right above the "Quick Reply" box.

Here are the pictures Dr. Don requested. The two ordinary pictures are taken in differing light. As I said, the extra metal in the P and L are raised. There is nothing else of interest on the coin. I just wondered about this anomaly.

Actually coop asked but that's OK. The problem is I could not enlarge them enough to see the issue. I would suggest uploading them as separate pics, get them as large as you can.

I find these images interesting. In hand it might be different, but worth of a look at by John Wexler.
