sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21786 Posts	Posted 04/15/2013 08:17 am Not happy with this coin. I have a 1937 Five Pound of of George V1, which has a residual cameo effect on both sides. (not like the modern contrived cameo finished coins.) The coin for sale here seems to be polished all over. The Coincraft Catalogue warns that forgeries of the proof 1911 issue of George V exist, and they can be detected by the details being a little indistinct. That seems to be the case here, but for fair examination, much better pictures are needed. The extremely rare AUSTRALIAN Five Pound coins have the dates 1887 (Victoria JH) and 1902 (Edward V11) only. They have an 'S' mintmark under the horse's right rear hoof. The 1911 George V coin pictured does not. This coin is being sold as a single. Well reported there Nancy, had started something similar myself but wasn't happy with my words ....... perhaps I was speechless for once.
