These are the best pics I could get for this coin. The date shows repunching on the "8" and especially on the "5".

The five shows a second, distinct and seperate, top of the five; under the primary five. You can make out the arc in the photo's but it is a bit soft. In hand it jumps out at you.

So; does anyone have any idea of which Snow number it might be?

There are about 31 varieties for the 1895, not including proofs, but I could not find any Snow varieties that matched you coin. It could be due to the quality of the picture. Could you be a little more specific as to the location of the repunching, especially on the '8' because I cannot see it. Also, most of the varieties that have repunching on the '8' and 5' also have repunching on the'9'

Hi,

I would like to know if the Snow varieties apply primarily to IHC.

If not, what other coins are described by Snow varieties.

Also what would be the best URL that anyone can visit to read about these Snow varieties and associated photographs showing the nature of each variety?

Thanks,
mdpmedia

mdpmedia,

Snow varieties are only for the Flying Eagle cent and IHC series. These numbers correspond to Rick Snow's research. The only way to see images of Snow varieties is to buy his guide, which is about $100. I believe you can buy guides by the date, too, at $3 each.

Sending your coin to Rick for attribution will cost $4, plus return shipping. Unless it is a rare coin or high grade, it is generally not worth the time and cost to do this. Google Eagle Eye Rare Coins for more info. He has great grading guides, too.

I agree, it is impossible to tell which variety that might be, if it is one. The pictures are not clear enough, I'm sorry.

Cheers.
