About 60 lbs. of lincolns. The most recent coin in this pail is 1983, which are all red. They were originally in 8-10 coffee cans and you can tell what year they were saved by the youngest coins in the can, looks like they were pulled from circulation in the early 80's. Only one can contained zinc coins.

My question is are red rolls worth anything, that is 1978,1979,1980,and 1981? (probably several rolls 70-77 also) Nothing great since they were in coffee cans, but certainly lots of MS63-65. What should I do with them? I wouldn't mind getting rid of most of them, my wife thinks I'm a hoarder.:)

Wow! I do love red cents. They should be worth something - BU, red and 100% copper must give them some sort of premium? I suppose the earlier the better. Any 60s coins?

The guy saved every cent he got. There was about 360 wheats, the nicest being a VG 1918-s
which I put in a 2x2 and gave back to the original owner. I also gave him a nice 1943 and large cent from Australia (1949)in a 2x2.

So yes there are a lot of coins from the 60's

They should definitely be worth something. How did you come across them?

nice thing to do give some valuable coins back to the original owner.
good on ya m8. humanity hasn't slipped that far then. I help my grandpa look through his pennies
because the only thing he collects is morgans and peace and silver coins.
found him 3 poor mans double dies and a very nice bu red 59-81 set.
now if only I could get him to part with some of his morgan doubles as I have only a lone morgan thats been cleaned.

The spouse of a colleague of mine saved them. Initially I was just to go through them to see if there was anything of value in there. Now they don't want them back. I said I'd give her $100 for the 60lbs. Now I kind of regret it because some of my valuable "coin money" is tied up

Good one upstate, you are essentially paying less than copper melt for these nice coins. Nice that you give back some valuable coins. It's a win-win for both.
