I developed an interest in coins about the time of last year's ASE set by having a small hoard of cents to sift through. Like many others I ran out and bought a few Whitman folders, my favorite of which is their 20th Century Type Coins folder.

About 4 months ago our basement flooded and the resulting rush to secure my sorting area mixed about 40 pounds of sorted cents and precipitated my misplacing the Type Set folder. Money has been a bit tight lately and the embarrassment of replacing lost coins had sapped my interest in the hobby.

Flash forward to 3 weeks ago and I discovered the Type Set where I'd left it for safe keeping (of course, having forgotten where!). What a load off! 2 weeks later an old personal loan got paid in full! So today I went to my local coin store to see what I could buy with silver so low. Here's what I got:

Also picked up a steel cent & a silver nickel. Dude had to get the nickel from a stash in the back as all "junk" or bullion silver is long gone. He told me somebody came in and cleaned him out of "melt" silver nickels the other day.

I was hoping to pick up a bunch of cheap dimes but no such luck. 2013 ASE bullion was going for $30.50, I skipped it but may go back.

Super excited about my Liberties! Been eyeing these two spots for months and finally finding coins I like is very satisfying!

Thanks CCF, for keeping me interested in and educated about this hobby! Now enjoy my incomplete 20th Century Type Coins set. :)

It's not how hard you fall it's all about how high you bounce... Sounds like you've bounced well.

That Walker is outstanding... beautiful coin. Best of luck with the collection!

Thanks BamaBlue! It really is a very nice coin and I can't stop eyeing it.

I'm also really in love with the Quarter, my example is worn with great detail deeper down. The thing that gets me is how much more sculptural the Standing Liberty is compared to today's quarter. GW's head is so flat and featureless compared to the standing liberty!

I'm putting off getting my new coins in the set as I want to see both sides! Surfing about it looks like Dansco's 7070 is sold out, at least until some update. Anybody know when they are to be available again? Or where to get one besides ebay?

Here's another look at the Year Type Set, purchased on ebay: 1970 Mint Set, fingerprint on the dime is from The Mint, I think the Half is 40% and the Nickel might be a "Black Beauty" candidate.

Not bad for a run of the mill ebay buy!
