I have a question about 1 Heller coins.
I have 3; 1849, 1852 and 1855.
I have attributed the 1849 as KM 327. The 1852 should also be the same KM# (last year of issue for that KM#). However, the 1852 is different. I will explain.
For this series, the obverse has F. STADT at the top, and FRANKFURT at the bottom.
My 1852 has FRANKFURT on the left, and FREI STADT (I am guessing this is what it says, the coin is not in good condition) on the right.
I saw in a Krause book, if I remember well what I saw, that the FRANKFURT on left and FREI STADT (if I remember) was used in 1853 and after.
I can supply a pic if required.
Does anyone know about this type of 1852 Heller?
Thanks.

My 1849 is like the first pic. My 1852 should also look like the first pic but it looks like the second pic.

the minting of the first variety starts in 1838 until 1852.
Starting also in 1852 the second issue was minted. So there are existing 2 issues of this heller dated 1852.
This is one of the dozens up to hundreds of mistakes in Krause/Mishler.

For us in Austria/Germnay, it seems to us that the authors don´t know much about german and central european numismatics
also lots of explanations about weights, mintcircles and conventions are full of mistakes.

I'll post a picture but what is the mintage for the second version of the 1852 heller?
Besides Krause, I did look at other sources for my 1852 version and I never found it.

The standard book: "Die Münzen von Frankfurt-am-Main nebst einer Münzgeschichtlichen Einleitung und mehreren Anhängen:
Das Mittelalter. Die Neuzeit" by Paul Joseph, Eduard Fellner. Your coin is listed in there and this catalog is the standard catalog for the coins of frankfurt, until today. and of course only available in german.

if you need a good catalog for german coins, then use these:
