Wolf, there are some complete and incomplete sets of year pages. Almost like an old school album of sorts. I'll try to get a few pics of those up tonight. But, I want to start with the first two books. First up is the little black book from the first pic. Not sure what to make of these. They are almost like mint sets, except all of the coins are dated 1980 with the exception of the 50p. It is dated 1981. I have 10 of these. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on them. Next is the green books. These are labeled as specimen set from 1971 and may be proofs. I have 6 of these. I have a feeling I'm going to be asking a lot of questions and learning a ton about Irish coinage!

That's no small lot! Have some fun, examine each closely, and research them well.
Tell us what you find, and we will add the comments!

Too cool. I like the 71 polished set. That is sweet. Looks like a few of the fartings are missing. HAHAHHA!

This really should be moved! Scooby, never mention to any Irish that you posted this topic in a British forum!

Moved.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

svslav- except for northern Ireland, THEY wouldn't mind
while I was in Ireland visiting my grandparents, I went up into their attic with my dad and found the same kind of coins, the large 10p coins worked as 2 pound coins in the nearby arcade coin changer, I played at least 10 of them, that's 20 pounds, 100 20 pence pieces, 100 plays = ownage.(it was basically a gambling arcade, you put in coins to get a chance to get more coins depending on the game, you can imagine how long I was playing on ONE game!)

Adam E - what exactly are you trying to say?
"except for northern Ireland, THEY wouldn't mind "
Are you trying to make some sort of Political point? That really doesn't have any place on a coin discussion forum
and the majority of us most certainly do mind!

Fantastic pick up. You're going to have an awful lot of duplicates. Will you make up smaller sets then sell them? Just love their pre-decimal coinage and the pre 1951 shillings and higher denominations are silver!

Oh, guys, I'm sorry my careless joke started this thing! Bacchus, I apologize and assure you there was nothing political here, nobody has any hidden agenda, I promise. There's a certain degree of ignorance in our part of the world about yours as, I'm sure, vice versa. I took a swipe at Scooby because I consider him a friend and believe he can take it (otherwise I just became one friend poorer ). Adam is a Young Numismatist and he shared what was his perception of his experience while visiting his grandparents. Let's just shake hands and smile about the whole thing! Definitely I don't want things to heat up and the thread to be locked - I know Scooby is excited to discuss his new stash of bones. Adam, I'm going to explain in very general terms. When certain nations live long by each other, have long history together, things happen - somebody overpowers the other, sometimes back and forth, sometimes not. But oftentimes certain tensions surface, and usually one nation proudly distinguishes itself from the other. I hope it was very apolitical. Edit: fixed a couple of typos, was in a hurry the first time!

svslav, just showing my ignorance. I actually toiled on what forum to put this in! I should have defaulted to world and let them move it if needed. Thanks sap! I'm sorry if I somehow unknowingly offended anyone with my ignorance. thai vic, yes, I am going to put the duplicates up for trade or for sell. As long as I have one of each - I'm happy! I'm hoping I can find a variety or two in there! Can anyone tell me anything about the first two sets?
