What grade is this 1923 Peace dollar? Pick it up for 30, my first on ever.

No pictures are fine, MS60 at best but I'm leaning to AU would be proper. The mark on coin(spot) really does it an injustice for sure.

I'm torn about the originality of the obverse surface. Forgive me for not replying sooner - I'd been thinking about this one, but got distracted by the next shiny object.

The reverse's surfaces seem OK under the lighting used for the photography. Under what should probably be the same lighting, the obverse looks funny which makes me discount the idea that lighting is the culprit. So, I'll offer a grade without considering obverse surface originality - that'll have to be up to you. I'm thinking AU55+ based on the fact that the dings I see don't seem to be the type resulting from bag collisions. They had to happen in circulation, even though I see very little wear.

Not a bad buy either way.

Looks to be mid AU grade. The dings keep it from the higher end of the grade, and I think I see some rub keeping it out of uncirculated territory.

Thanks everyone! The dealer told me it was around AU. I wasn't sure if 30 dollars was worth it but then I checked ebay and it seems like I did good.
