I found this half dollar in the dirt a few years back when I was in the States. The obverse doesn't look too bad, but the reverse is not so flash. Is there anything that can be done (and if said things should be done) to improve its appearance? Thanks!

This one isn't going to really gain any value if you conserve it. From here on in, it's bulk silver. That, of course, rationalizes a blowtorch if that's what it takes but I wouldn't waste the effort. Nor is it worth being an "experimental" coin to gain skills with methods you might use in the real world someday; none of those will help this one. You wouldn't know if you'd succeeded.
