Dcadon I completely agree with you.. Either wait until you have the product or suffer the consequences. The delays with the mint Shipping over the last year have been horrific. Why would it have changed for this coin? And for the buyers that buy pre sales,,,, they're stupid as well.

Why so much hate for flippers? This thread was started to help some people having trouble....than it turns into flipper bashing....i collect coins and flip some to help pay for my collection....the way I look at it is flippers are just part of the game and its not going to change...
Also at coin chick....there really isn't much consequences to pre-selling.....a negative feedback or 2...that really doesn't mean much...

Well since it is like 5 days before 30 days I told my buyer that I will not be able to get him the item within 30 days and there are a few things we can do. First were could make an agreement that it will take longer than thirty days, 45 days or 60 days and not be covered under E-bays buyer protection or I can offer him a refund.

@tristen1230 perfect you did and said what you could to fix the problem...now its up to him to decide....look at it this way..if he wants a refund thats an extra butterfly for you. I cant see it losing value, sell it when you get it, or keep it until the next release and sell it for more :)

Stuff like this makes me glad I don't sell on ebay. I won't go as far as Coin Chick and say buyers who buy on pre-sales are stupid, but those who buy and then complain certainly are lacking in common sense. I do agree it would make more sense for the seller to wait until s/he has it in his/her hands before selling. Are such sellers afraid it will drop in value once it's widely available? Rob

@Solidifier - I may keep it if I like it but more likely sell it. I will probably sell it again. It will not go lower than issue I know that. I think it has levelled out so it would not be that big of a loss if I were to sell it again. Maybe I will get more? Who knows.

If the buyer wants the item not the refund that's different.

@marty - I agree. Just make an agreement on E-bay that it will take longer then 30 and possibly 60 days. Then if 44th day comes and she opens a dispute with E-bay more likely it will be with your favour since she agreed to wait longer. But if I understand right she thinks you have it and is not shipping it out to her?

Solidifier Negative feedback is a consequence and It does mean something to people who value their feedback Ravenzcoin You said the exact thing I did,,, just not as bluntly. ebay isn't rocket science..you sell, they buy, you meet timelines or the deal is done.. Unless they've built a relationship with you and they trust you.

I personally never sell anything until I have it hand. As for flipping go for it, but be prepared for the complaints from buyers when things don't go smoothly. I agree with Coinchick but wouldn't call them stupid but maybe naive. As for the ebay issue just be kind and courteous, keep your buyer informed of the situation and ask them for a solution that would suit them.

Quote: And for the buyers that buy pre sales,,,, they're stupid as well. I bought this coin on pre Sale in January...but with mint delays..it might come in may...but I'm not worried...yes I bought it on ebay...but from a good seller...the coin is still offered on presale today at 3 times the price...I buy lots of world coins often with long delays...but I always have got my coin...and at the best possible price...

@Koin Hunter - My buyer just did not want to wait 4 - 5 months when he could have bought it right now from someone who has it which I understand. But if I could not sell it again for that price or near that price I would be a little more reluctant. They were happy and left positive feedback.

Odd that we're talking about the "buyer wanting his coin now", yet lots of people, flippers included, are waiting for a couple of dealers who presold butterflies to send them their coins (i.e. complaining that they took their money but didn't ship and now threatening to boycott, trash talk on forums etc etc). When the shoe is on the other foot, it doesn't always fit so well. Seems to me that ebay discourages preselling by limiting the time for transaction to occur without consequence. If you choose to play outside of those rules/guidelines, that is your choice. But you won't find much sympathy when the buyer expects an item that he has paid for in the time frame that you set out in your ad.

@CC-Ottawa - When I talked to E-bay the lady said they discourage it. I told her then why not ban it or say that there is no buyer protection unless the item in not received. Once bought you must buy it. No buyer remorse or that guy has it so I will cancel this one and buy that one for cheaper.

Yes I understand...but if your costumer had been willing to wait...you would have honored your end of the sale...right
