Hi I am wondering if anyone knows of a website, book or another source of information that can help me to learn to grade Australian Pre Decimal coins.

I can grade King George V but I am struggling with the King George VI and Elizabeth II coins.

Also is there a picture chart for Australian coins which is similar to PCGS's American coins chart?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Flippy

No decent charts like PCGS photograde.

With KGVI and QEII coins the strike is so variable and makes it very hard to grade. A GEM.UNC KGVI or QEII Perth Mint halfpenny might have no hair detail. Its not wear, it was just never there. The only way is experience IMO.

Grading charts are available on the Blue Sheet ( http://www.bluesheet.com.au/ ) for every Australian pre-decimal coin series (with only coins in a few unusual grades missing) with a silver or higher subscription. Here's a sample from Geo V florins:

They're on all of the coin pages, you can get to the coin pages by clicking on the date of a coin in the coin listings. You just need a silver subscription to see the photos.

Hey ANDA has a very good one. ANDA is a dealers association that helps to uphold certain principles within its membership but they also publish free information for collectors one of which shows pictures and descriptions for predecimal coin grading here is the link for that
http://www.anda.com.au/documents/re...%20coins.pdf
and the one for their website so you can access other information of theirs as well as see who is a part of ANDA
http://www.anda.com.au/
Most of the dealers use this I think?
Hope I helped
