I just called the Federal Reserve, and asked about a release date for the new $100 bill, and the lady I talked to, said that no release date had been determined for the new $100 bill, so, I thanked her for her time, and hung up the phone, but then, literally few seconds later, she called back and said "You know what? I just checked, and found out that the new $100 bills will be released in October" and I said, "Okay, you gave me a release month, but, do you have a release date, by any chance?" and she said "Hold on. Let me check" so I waited on the phone for less than a minute, and she said "OCTOBER 8TH" will be the release date" and I told her I was so happy to hear that the new $100s would be coming out in October, because summer usually flys by, and she said "Yeah, it'll be here quicker than you think"

Anyway, I'm overwhelmed with the joy of this news.

Is anyone else anxious for wanting one of these new $100s when they come out?

By the way, I just checked the BEP's newmoney.gov website, and the release date, and a small video is on http://www.newmoney.gov. If you are interested, go check it out.

My question would be, why was the wait so long? I remember these bills being introduced about a year ago.

I can already see low serial numbers (1-100) of the new $100 bills selling for thousands in the first few months. Especially serial numbers 1-25.
So whats the next thing your looking forward to Fox? Now that these new hundreds will be here soon.

Wish I could get my hands on a low serial hundred!!

I wonder if you could request the new notes directly from the federal reserve bank in person on the day they come out. If all the hype about them pulling the old hundreds is true, I would think they would be happy to exchange them out.

Woodford,

I am looking forward to the possible elimination of the $1 bill and replacing it with a dollar coin, which I was told, could also be decided towards the end of the year. But that might not be likely to happen, so, I'm not getting my hopes up too high on that one.

But what I'm really looking forward to, is seeing the redesigned $2 bill with the next currency redesign, following the current new $100 bill's release, seeing as it will be the $2 bill's first major redesign since 1976 when the reverse of the $2 bill was redesigned. I hope and wish they'd go back to a Monticello reverse, so that if they do eliminate the $1 bill, all remaining denominations will have building structures on them.

I wasn't interested at all until you mentioned low serials... Making more than face value on one these would be the only reason I would be interested.

I am not a huge serial number fan, but I seriously want a fancy or a low number on this new issue.
