Indian gold fanams can be had from about $35. How about 8 or 9 of those?

It'll take 8 or 9 in one place for you to be able to see them.

That 1886 is one ugly coin. Hopefully, the owner will put this coin out of it's misery and melt it down. lol

Thanks for the heads up Miket. I called my little local guy today, and found out I missed one last week, he let it go for around 369$ Small time guy that sells out of his house, real nice guy, always meet in a mcdonalds parking lot. I think I just need to call him every week to find a good coin for the price I want.

I recently picked up an XF Indian Head quarter-eagle for $315. The same shop had a an Indian Head dollar for $180. The quarter-eagle was certainly the better value in terms of the gold it contains.

You should be able to find plenty of quarter eagles on ebay selling for well under $300. They're going to be low grade, but if you just want to own numismatic gold, there ya go.
