Kind of off topic here but I am a huge race fan. Espically when it comes to the Indianapolis 500. Whenever a benchmark speed has been broken, the driver has been given silver dollars to match the speed.
quote:Tom Sneva collects 200 silver dollars from local businessman Phil Headback for becoming the first driver to officially run laps in excess of 200 mph at IMS, during qualifying for the 1977 Indianapolis 500. Headback gave Parnelli Jones 150 silver dollars for setting the first official 150 mph lap in 1962.
That's like when Hank Aaron was set to beat Babe Ruth's home run record. A newspaper offered 400-some odd "silver" (Eisenhower) dollars for anyone who picked up the home run ball.
