I haven't seen any "junk" silver in the area. 90% was the first to go around here.

So why would all the 90% be sold out/first over ASE or other coins?
Isn't that usually a higher price over spot?

ASE or other coins that are printed by a government mint usually hold some premium and sell at higher prices. 90% or junk silver sells cheaper for the most part around here. it also allows collectors to complete sets with lower grade coins. 90% was going for 22 times face for a while, not sure what it ended at around here but my guess would be 18-20 times face.

Anything is possible in a local market.

ASEs and everything else are still made and restocked constantly with 90 percent silver no longer being produced someone has to come in and sell to get more which in a small market may not happen often

The other thing too is a lot of the old silver coins sit in albums in various circulated condition. Some people do circulated albums or roll hunt for it ect. So even though its only value may be bullion it doesn't necessarily just get treated as such

They were cheaper before now
Easy recognizable
Hard to counterfeit
And in a Mad Max world, allot easier to barter than a big butt kilo coin
