After weeks of waiting, I have resumed purchasing towards my LSD set. I like this one for the price and the original uncleaned surface. There are some marks on the fields but not enough to have turned me off when I compare to a lot of what I had seen in the price and grade range. I'll upgrade this to an MS example one day.

I'm in a net of EF45, what say you fine folk of the CCF?

Looks 50 or 53 notwithstanding the marks in the fields. XF45 would be conservative even with them.

My first thought was AU50/53, but EF is probably a good net price point as there are quite a few ticks under the toning, and the fields are a bit scruffy, it's the reverse digs in between the wreath tips more on the left side, that make the case for an EF45 price in the market.

This coin fits in very nicely with the other coins you've been showing us dsfreeworld, this is going to be a fantastically matched set for the most part.

Why are you dropping it to a net? Are the surfaces messed with? Looks like toning, but I suppose that could be a wrong silver cleaner leaving those obverse colors?

I was thinking 50+ for wear... 50 over 53

graffiti or light scratches on the reverse, surface issues, maybe from wear, but looks more like it was done on purpose a long time ago. EF is a "market acceptable" price though technically the coin is probably in the AU grade as to wear. It does match DSFreeWorlds other SLD's so it should fit in nicely with his set. As he mention in the OP this coin is to fill a hole and will be upgraded eventually.

Westcoin is right on the money and as always I value his opinion as an expert in numismatics

The reverse does look like PMD from an individual a very long time ago. the coin has a thick patina now so its slightly discernible versus an extreme eyesore. The coin has not been exposed to any sort of cleaner or agent other than rag and water and again, probably a hundred years ago.

it indeed fits the current offering and if PCGS would consider an EF45 I would add it to my registry. However, I'm not sure if it would get a problem free holder or not so I will keep it raw and go AU50 to MS62 at some point in 2020 or so.

tx for the comments and grading opinions everyone
