It's the 1827 copper penny of George V1 that is scarce. All of the production was sent to Tasmania, where they were retained in circulation for many decades.
Today, they are a bit easier to find in Australia than in Great Britain.
Top condition examples of these are very rare.
Copper pennies and half pennies were replaced by lighter bronze coins after 1860, because it was rightly adjudged that pure copper for coinage is too soft.
