Here is an Irish coin which was marked "vanguard " which I think was a group during the 70s in northern Ireland during the northern Ireland conflict who were a (protestant )unionist organization? This is an interesting coin and would be very hard to value but please comment!
Thanks!
John

I don't collect stamped coins, so for me, considering it is a non rare CuNi florin, it has no real value.
(I consider the vanguard as a PMD, which I'd find distracting).

Rest in Peace

Here's an informative thread on another forum, with a lot of interesting pics. Unfortunately, seems difficult to even get a numismatic discussion going about these defaced and countermarked coins of the Troubles, without some of the old antagonism raising its head again...

A lot of these counterstamps (of that particular side) were done at Harland and Wolf shipyard where the machinery was available to use.

Countermarked propaganda pieces like this rarely add much value, simply because there'd really be nothing stopping anyone making as many fake items as you wish.

I have an Irish 10p with Orangemen propaganda engraved onto it; the engraving was run over with black marker pen to make it stand out more. I offered it for sale at my local coin club for a dollar. There weren't any takers.
