I don't know how they can end up with this predicament. I think they are crossing their fingers hoping for more cancellations in the days ahead.
I think their problems resulted from the flood of cancellations in late February. They were really scared sh*t and opened the order gates resulting in orders for a couple of items outnumbering the cancellations.
I was told by another poster that the oversold number almost reached 30.

30 eh? Good to know - well not good but information helps.
I just can't figure out how they shipped those Feb orders before the Nov orders though. That for lack of a better word is ridiculous. heck of a way to run a railroad.
I'm still hopeful that they figure something out and do not look through the rejects for more (hopefully those were melted before this came to light).
And Cdn coins is selling 7 of them now. If the mint had any integrity at all, they would buy back that stock (at full price) to fill our orders. Ya pie in the sky.

I heard from the same poster that RCMint managed to whittle down the oversold number down to single digit range.
How they managed to do that is beyond me. They might even bought back some coins from the dealers or they lower the bar and resurrect some from the to-be-melted pool.

The RCMint is shooting for 200 numismatic items in 2013 and a minimum of 60 sellouts.
I have talked to a couple of major dealers and they are not happy with this. Dealers are not flippers. They make money from the RCMint discount and the receivables. They are not in the business of flipping. They prefer to have fewer items and more mintage per item. In fact, one of them asked me to put this in writing in the survey.
Flippers, on the other hand, prefer more items and substantially less mintage to give a flipping opportunity.
So, is the RCMint supporting flippers or dealers?

I'm a transplanted Maritimer and the scariest thing a Maritimer can hear is "Hi, I'm from the government in Ottawa and I'm here to help you." A chill just went down my spine. I suspect the RCM is trying to help dealers didn't bother to ask the dealers (all off them) what they could do to help. The effect is support for flippers and those dealers who do sell hot coins at big premiums.

You are absolutely right in this regard.
It will be very interesting to find out what prices are the dealers going to put up Monday night for the three to four coins that are in short supply.

Looking forward to the June release! Love the idea that the Mint is serving a wide audience & the more collectors and interest in collecting generated, the better it is for our hobby, isn't it? We can choose what we like... A new Dino? Another $20 for $20? More animal portraits? Bring em on!

My rep is going to help me by forecasting which coins will sell out during the MC release period.
He is on the money every time.

How this knowledge could be helpful to you? In any way you can order something on the first day of MC release, when everything is available.
