I bought the bluesheet, greysheet and the monthly supplement to help me at a convention I am going to next week. I haven't looked these over before and I am a bit confused. I collect Morgan dollars, usually certified. Looking at the bluesheet, since it has the certified stuff, I can find a price there. Say it is $88 for one of the coins I want. When I go to the greysheet, I see the same coin with a bid of $100 and an ask of $110. What is the price that the dealer be referencing when I ask him for his price? I thought the greysheet was for the raw coins and the bluesheet for the certified ones. If someone can explain this to me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

The dealers sell off the ask price which is the higher one and most will buy at or under the bid price.

What is confusing me is the difference in the price. Why is the greysheet for raw coins priced higher than the bluesheet for certified coins. Don't certified coins sell for more than raw?

They just have different prices in general as far as I know, most guides seem to be close but none of them are exactly the same. It also depends on how much theyre updated as well. But yes generally two coins all things being equal the graded one will sell for more on places like ebay, but a lot of dealers will price the raw coins off their own grading of it

I think the greysheet prices assume the coin is accurately graded and has been viewed in person. I believe the bluesheet is for sight unseen certified coins which may or may not be accurately graded.

I am looking to establish a graded coin dealership and although based in South Africa American coins do have a good market mainly through internet sales . Saying that my question is will the Blue sheet in particular help in getting accurate current prices ? Expert advice will help .
