Hello members, I don't find anything suspicious to me it is fake. One feature that has to be noted is the edge of this coin. Of the over 30 Portrait dollars in my collection, this is the first one that shows such a serious edge overlapping by my impression. I show here for you to see and want you to give a feedback for my query - Was there the possibility of the edge overlapping or over-strike produced in the Mint or it was the poor craftsmanship of a Class 2 restrike. Most importantly, if you have one similar coin of this edge irregularity, can you show here for all of us? Thank you,Henry.

Specification of this coin: 26.93 grams, 39.5-39.8 mm in diameter, SG 10.148.

The coin is a silver restrike made for the China trade almost identical to the "Boston" variety which I finally tracked down to a specific location. In fact- the edge of your coin and one I own that I bought from a man who claimed to have made the coin about 1920-30 shows very long indistinct overlaps and exceptional crudeness. My coin tested Modern using XRF not enough platinum or gold to have been smelted before 1870.

The edge has admittedly deteriorated by the time my copy was made.
