This coin is certified, but I am not necessarily sure I agree with the grade. I am thinking about buying the coin, and what your opinions. Thanks! Image: 1921a.jpg45.69 KB Image: 1921b.jpg46.83 KB

VG-10, though it might grade F-12 in hand. Nice looking coin...nice balance.

Thanks to all for the replies! This coin is graded G-6 by NGC which I think is quite conservative. Personally I felt the coin is at least a VG-8, and I liked the color/wear balance better than most VG's I have seen. Since the coin was priced at VG-8 money, I wanted to see other thoughts. I have now bought the coin, (and not the slab, although I do like having the better dates authenticated) and am looking forward to adding this key to my small but growing Walker collection!

I see this coin as VG8-10 and I'm a conservative grader. G6 is way too low. You have all the skirt lines on the left with nice sandal detail. I would send it back to NGC with the above explanation and ask them to regrade it at their expense or provide an explanation of their grade.

I agree that the coin is a VG 8 or 10 example ,,I also agree with Susan about sending the coin back and asking that it be correctly graded !!

Once I get the coin I'll see how it looks in hand, (although I think we are all in agreement that it's at least VG-8), I'll see about contacting NGC to see if they can regrade it for me for free. Is there any chance that NGC would do that though, since I am don't have submission privileges with them? Glad to see that you are in agreement with at least a VG-8 Susan, as I've seen your coins on ebay and you are a strict grader.

I saw what it was graded and I was thinking borderline VG-8, but the wear on the motto on the front as well as on the gown made me thing G-6

Not worth buying?
You do realize that in the next grade up PCGS lists this coin at $350 and in the grade above that it goes to $1600?
Sure would be nice not to have to live on a budget...

The coin arrived yesterday (5/25), although it was mailed on 5/14. Thank you post office! The weakest parts of the coin in hand are "In God We Trust" and the bottom parts of a couple letters in "Liberty". In hand, I think the coin deserves a VG-8 grade. This is now the lowest mintage coin in my collection, and I think it's much nicer than most 1921's you see on e-bay, etc.

Walking Liberty halves have different grading standards for pre and post 1921 coins. According to Brown and Dunn the motto must stand out and the word GOD must show all three letters plainly. For pre 1921 coins the word GOD must show although not bold. I give it a G-6, if it was a 1920, VG-8.
