I have talked about this before that I didn't want my gold coin graded but now I been thinking I would like it in a NGC holder or PCGS. Right now I have it inside an air-tite holder. But it gets finger prints all over when I look at it. I know you should hold by the sides but sometimes it's hard to pick the coin up. I also would just like to have graded by third party. I know it's not worth it to do this but sometimes you just do things because you like it that way.
So the coin is 1912 $2.50 Indian head. It's AU-50 I think? Might grade higher or not. Can someone here please tell me now what to do? Like, if this is too much trouble i'll contact NGC if I can find a way. Edited by solotime 05/08/2013 01:38 am

if you are an ANA member you can submit it to NGC. If you are not an ANA mewmber there are only two other options, 1 is to pay for a membership (but if this is the only coin you want graded its not worth it in my opinion) the second option is to find a dealer and have them submit it for you

Like Bryan mentioned its a relatively easy process, just time consuming if youre willing to pay. If this is the only one youll submit I would suggest finding someone you trust to submit to pcgs or ngc. If you think youll send more or know you will be I would say to get a membership and do it yourself. Both have higher priced memberships that come with free submissions that for older coins like gold coins will save you money getting the vouchers. The other option would be to see yours and by one already graded if you dont have any particular attachment to that one

Well I signed up for the free account and it said's you need an invoice number. I don't see that anywhere. ( I did that before reading your statements) So you guys are saying I must pay for an account in order to submit? I thought you can pay-per the coin and grading service without paying for a special account. I don't have 5 coins I would want to submit for $100 dollars. But that isn't a bad deal. I got a 1993 silver proof quarter and my ike that I would like to have graded to but it's not worth the $100 though. Perhaps, thanks very much guys. *added* So I was reading what other people on this site done, here I just remembered about ANACS. I am liking them much better. I just want to send my dang coin in without joining site(s). I don't care if it cost 50 dollars. So can someone now help me out on what you would need to do in order to send to ANACS? The thing I'm having problems with is, what if I say my coin is worth only 350 and they say it's worth more than 350? Because they say OWNERS Value. Now I paid 305 for my gold coin back in 2010 if I remember right. I never cared what grade, just how nice it looks. I have asked people on this site to grade it and I think they said AU-50. Now if I write down it's AU-50 and the coin came back AU-55, would that be allowed? Sending one coin would be 19 to grade and 7 for shipping, so that would make the total be 26 dollars for the whole grading service? Using the 15 day grading. I would like to use the Five day grading. Would that be allowed? Also, does crossover grade mean the lowest grade I would allow? Here's the ANACS website link: http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/S...ionForm.aspx

Between the two I think the 8 for 200 with PCGS is the best deal if you have old coins that you would use the 32 dollar tier for.
But yes the free accounts they both have doesn't come with submission privileges. You have to have one of the paid accounts and then will have to pay for the order as well. The paid accounts are a yearly charge so you wouldnt have to do that every submission.
As far as submitting though you can only put coins in the same order that are the same tier. With your examples the ike and quarter could be one order but the gold would have to be its own order.

If your coin is raw like it sounds like you leave that blank. As long as you dont undervalue a coin to get it into a cheaper tier the value you put is just how much they will insure it for on return shipping. The only thing you cant do is use less expensive tiers that do not apply to your coin. Quote: Also, does crossover grade mean the lowest grade I would allow? Cross over only applies to coins already graded by PCGS or NGC, ANACS may accept a few more but if the coin is raw cross over doesn't apply.

@basebal, wow, thanks very much man! I'm going with ANACS, they seem so much easier and nicer. I might add more coins but right now I am very tried and can't even type that good. I will throw in the 1993 quarter IF I don't see any marks or scratches that would ruin the grade.

Straight from the ANACS website; How should I package my coins when sending them to ANACS? We always suggest that you place each coin in its own Mylar flip. (You can purchase Mylar flips from your local coin shop or on the Internet.) We suggest 2 ½ X 2 ½ crown size Mylar flips. Always remove the coins from any cardboard flips they might be in and always be careful when removing any staples. Write the line number from the submission form on the flip with a felt marker. This will help expedite your order. Wrap the coins so they will not slide out of the flip. Do not use staples or paper clips. Pad the coins/flips with tissue or styrofoam and place them in an appropriate size box. We recommend that you follow the "Rule Of Two," by packaging your coins in two containers, such as a padded envelope inside of a box.http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/F...kieSupport=1Is there a coin show in your area anytime soon? ANACS may be there and take the coin directly, you would save on shipping and packaging. http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/CoinShows.aspx

@oih82w8, Huh when I googled I couldn't find it, Thanks very much. I used my psp to type that, I was unable to use my pc at that time. I will wrap it with paper then place inside a small box or something. After that I will package it with the paper. Perhaps, closes coin show is 200 miles away... *Added* Coin is going to be sent out tomorrow morning. I wrapped the coin in a hard paper and then placed the forum paper over it. Once again, thanks everyone who helped. This forum can be closed I guess. I will make a new thread about the grade it comes back, hopefully AU something, or some kind of MS grade. That would make my day Only one month to wait.

when I first commented on this thread I thought it said "How to submit to NGC" not any " TPG" and that is why I only gave the ways to submit to NGC in my reply

I was wondering about getting items graded at coin shows. Say I want PCGS to grade my coin. If I find a booth at a coin show, do I still have to wait multiple weeks to get the coin back, or do they grade the coin on the spot?

@ Tetromibi: You still have to wait, but you can safe money on the cost of shipping and sometimes get a coinshow deal. For PCGS, I dont believe there is any way to get around paying for a 1 year membership, unless you submit though a friend.
