Ok, so I am less than impressed to say the least but this is the first time I have ordered from any of the big PM guys. Need some feed back on my outlook and how the other guys perform.
4/14 - Order placed 4/15 - Check mailed 4/19 - Check received 4/22 - Check cleared bank account 4/30 - Provident marks payment cleared
Order still has not shipped. Called customer service just to check and the girl was very pleasant but stated that it is taking 2-3 weeks for them to process orders after payment clears? Why? She didn't really have an answer and I didn't press the issue but is this normal processing time? If so I am not sure I will ever order there again.

I have noticed delays with most of the "big PM guys" I have dealt with since the recent drop in prices. Supplies are low and demand is high. APMEX seems to still be quick, but their premiums are the worst.

So I am not off base in assuming that they are selling product that they don't have in stock and just not being upfront about that?

If they consistently do that like gold mart that would be the likely issue. They almost always put back ordered or delayed on their website so not sure why they wouldnt for your order. They may just be really backed up in shipping.
Ive never used a check with them but all the large sites arent exactly the fastest shippers in the world when the money has been received

If it was ASEs they have had them marked on their site to ship either today or yesterday. I have used them in the past and been pleased.

No ASE's and nothing that I ordered had any notations about delayed or out of stock as I see on several of their items. Plus, if that was the case wouldn't the CS rep be aware of that instead of making it sound like every order was taking 2-3 weeks to ship? I mean, I ordered from them because they had the best prices and free shipping but waiting a month for product is unacceptable in my opinion unless you are notified up front of the issue. I guess I am just impatient. I will tell you this, I am never sending them a check again. I have a funny feeling if I had any leverage in the situation right now I would have my product.

I feel your pain I wait a month for an order from Goldmart hen wasn't pleased at what I received. Personally I always use a cash back credit card so I feel I have some leverage. What I would wonder is if somehow the item went out of stock while waiting for your check to clear. But obviously I don't know. I will say this from what I can tell seems APMEX has been one of the few internet sellers who kept up customer service during the past month.

I think with the lower PM prices, everyone is on a buying spree and the dealers are having trouble keeping up. A dealer I with has increased his delivery time from 1 week/10 ten after payment to 3-6 weeks after payment. They also said they were raising their S&H rates in order to hire more people for shipping.

They've been quick with my orders, but I haven't ordered anything since the prices dropped.

Was it a personal check? Provident is faster if you send a cashiers check. My last order from Provident was at my door before they marked it as shipped on the site.

I order from Provident from time to time, but not in the past few months. I always pay by check and my orders usually take around 3 weeks from when I mail the check to when I receive my items. This might be considered slow, but I like their inventory, lower prices and shipping charges, so I don't mind the wait. Once I have locked in my price, it isn't pressing to me when my order is shipped as long as their website keeps me updated.

I've browsed Provident's website, but, never placed an actual order. I guess I've been happy with how things are going with APMEX. You can see the inventory available online and when paying by check, they usually send email confirmation of check received 2 days after mailing (they don't dawdle). They do wait 1 week and then ship the order (regardless of when the check actually clears). From there, it's usually 2-3 days before I have the order in my hand. Yeah, APMEX tends to be more expensive, but, I have never had a problem receiving my order in timely manner. Also, they do have a satisfaction guarantee policy (exchange or refund... although you may have to pay for any market losses they incur if you demand a refund).

Airwolf, everything was in stock when I placed my order so nothing should be delayed because of inventory issues unless they are selling product they don't have. I am glad you received your order so quickly, given my experience I do not see how that is even possible though.
I did get a chance to speak with a CS Rep that was much more helpful yesterday, she at least explained their process. After the orders payment is cleared it is sent to the vault for assembly and packaging which happened on 4/30. My order was in the vault from 4/30 until yesterday 5/9 (7 business days) and has now been sent to the shipping department where it will, according to them, be 2-3 before it is actually shipped. She said in her experience I should expect shipping confirmation on Monday which would be 9 business days from the time of "good" payment. 2-3 days for shipping (hey, it was free not going to complain there) and you are looking at 11-13 business days to receive my order without counting the time to process a personal check.
Reading about all of these sellers and the posts on here it sounds like I am just going to learn some patience because this seems to be par for the course. If my product arrive sand is of good quality I guess I really shouldn't care though.
Oh, and I did read all their policies in advance, I can't imagine anyone mailing any company a large personal check without have a pretty good idea of what a companies policies are.

Good to hear you were able to talk to a customer rep who actually could provide you some insight. Sounds like you should be getting your order next Wed or Thurs. So... you ordered on April 14th and hopefully will have it in hand May 16th. Let us know when you get it and if your items are ok. BTW, can you say what you ordered? (not the quantity of course)
