I am well aware of the German silver and nickel silver knock offs out in ebay land. I am certain this is genuine fine 999 silver I only say German because I think that may be the language the text is written in & Lahr is a city in Germany.

It is written in German, "1 ounce fine silver 999" and yes that is Lahr. I believe the maker is Heraeus.

right:

it is not "German Silver" this is real fine silver.
theese ingots are made as collectibles, around the seventees.

why does everyone thinks, a german silver barr is worthless?
IF YOU READ THE WORD "NEUSILBER"; THEN IT IS YOUR "GERMAN SILVER"

You have to feel sorry for any private German mints trying to produce legitimate fine silver ingots, because of the country of origin their product is almost instantly believed to be fake by the uninformed public.

By executing a quick Google search "fine German Silver" you will find 8 out of 10 results selling fraudulent Chinese reproductions or warnings and horror stories. I have heard stories myself of people offloading their entire savings on "too good to pass" deals, such a shame.

The Heraeus company is beside Degussa the most famous and important producer for ingots in germany.
there is no necessarity to letter the ingots in english for the local market.

and please note: "german silver" is the english name for "NEUSILBER", which is far away of being fine silver.

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neusilber

and please: do not compare our quality fine silver from the german refiners with this chinese trash.
