All-

I'm not sure the scans came out good enough to accurately grade this, but I got tired of posting pictures of cruddy coins, so here's a pretty one to look at. In person the luster is "blazing", though of course the scan didn't capture it very well...

This is a 1894 Guatemala peso counter stamp (KM#224) on a 1875 Chile peso (KM#142.1). The counter stamp appears full UNC to me, but you can argue about the host coin. Some of the details are flattened from the counter strike (e.g. the lines in the fasces), and some appear not as sharp as they could be for other reasons- either rubbing or slightly worn dies. There's also that darned rim ding...

Anyway, it's one of my favorites...

The more I look at the results, the more I realize the scanner I used for this image is almost useless for this kind of thing. I'll see if I can't take a picture that actually does this coin justice...

The pic may not show it but this is a very nice counter stamped coin. Both the host coin and the stamp appear to be in very nice condition!
