From what I can tell, this coin should be worth at least 20k. The owner of the coin seems a bit naive to me; and should really have sold on Heritage or another mega auction house to get top dollar. Rarely do I see individual coins on ebay sell for more than 10 grand. I was willing to bid up to 8500 but that would be too good a deal to be true and it has already exceeded this mark already with an hour and a half to go. I'm not aware of any real risk to the buyer, as this coin is covered by Buyer Protection and ebay certainly won't release the funds until positive feedback is left.

There's no real risk; not a chance Paypal will release this kind of money to a brand-new seller before the buyer indicates satisfaction. Of course, this is all moot because there's not a chance the deal is legit, either.

I sent the seller an e-mail last night and let him know I am 12 miles away and wanted to come look at the coin. No response.

I bid the auction up to $19,000 which was the most I would pay and it closed for $19,100. Not a lot of risk to the bidder here.

The winner's bidding history hints that he's got a good idea what he's doing - close to 5000 Feedbacks and he buys a lot of gold. I don't see him being taken by a scam, which is reassuring.

I don't have a lot of faith in ebay on that high of stuff. I wish the buyer the best of luck.
