I recently went to the National Money Show in New Orleans last week and picked up all the common date morgans in Ms65, some in 66, all CAC. I'm thinking most of the other date morgans will get to be so expensive the only way anyone can have nice high grade specimens is to go with common dates. Does anyone share this feeling?

Sure... If you're collecting for yourself and you enjoy the coin, that makes sense. If you're investing, it's a whole different ball game.

Do what floats your boat... Lol, if it works for you go for it!

I tend to agree with Scropper personally.. I also buy all common date Morgan's in high grades and preferably toned nicely, but I cherrypick raw examples more often than buying slabs.. And I still get MS64-66 coins for a fraction of the price, usually no more than $65-$70.

But that being said I do have a bunch of slabbed Morgan's as well... A few because they are DMPL designated, and even more that are toned beautifully.... I'm a sucker for toning and I'm finding that the nicer, high grade examples of toned coins are already both slabbed and green beaned (CAC) so what am I to do? Lol.

I know I won't be able to afford pristine, if even MS examples of the super keys, but I do save up a bit to buy nice examples of the more common CC's and some of the semi keys, also preferably DMPL or toned.. And those get up there in price, takes a little saving but it can be done fairly reasonably still..

Bacically buy the coins you like, slabbed, raw... It makes no difference. Buy coins you want in your collection, coins that make you happy!
